Our Goal
The Library Telescope Program fosters scientific literacy, stimulates interest in astronomy, and offers the awe and excitement of exploring the night sky to those who may have never looked through a telescope.
WEBINAR: October 19, 2022
TIME: 9:00 pm - 9:30 pm Eastern Time
PROGRAM TITLE: Hosting Library Star Parties under Light Polluted Skies
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Hosting star parties at libraries is a great way to promote the library telescope program and provide "hands on" training so patrons can learn to use the telescope. However, light pollution can create problems viewing the night sky. Amateur Astronomer Don Ficken from St. Louis will discuss tips and tricks to hosting a successful star party right in the parking lot of a library.
